This is my first ciclid tank and it has been about a week since I added fish. The fish seem to really love the rockwork that I put in. My water conditions are great, but I have one little question. I made an impulse buy. I know what you are thinking. What did this newbie do now? Well I bought a red tailed black shark. I saw a 125g display at the lfs that was full of ciclids and they had one 4" rt-black shark in there and seemed to get along fine with the other cichlids. I watched it for about twenty minutes. So I bought one. It is getting along great with the others right now, but from what I read, it requires a much lower ph level than the cichlids do. I have also read that it's more important to keep it stable than to worry too much about the actually reading. Do you see any problems here?

2-colbalt zebras
1-trb shark

RTBS can adapt fine to the high pH. I have seen them be overly sensitive to high nitrites though, so beware of this in a new tank and keep an eye on the levels and WC if necessary.

What is yours now? Stable is usually the best in most situations. I have one about that size in water around 8-8.5 right now.

I would add no more fish until that tank is cycled completely.

Just noticed your location, when I saw musky48, Wisconsin was my first thought.
