Fish dying for no apparent reason, what gives?

Well, about 6 weeks ago I switched to live plants, got an RO water filter, and started DIY c02 injection. My water since I got the RO unit has never been more perfect. My nitrates and nitrites are zero, my PH is perfect, hardness is ideal, water is just better than I have ever had. I have 4 watts per gallon of light, put in Flourish tabs, and with the c02 injection my plants are growing like wild and pearling good. But now all of a sudden in three days I have had 5 fish die. They do not have a mark on them, no apparent disease, and there has been no fighting in the tank. Why are my fish dying? I have a canister filter that is rated for a tank larger than mine, and like I said, my water tests perfect. Can anyone give me some ideas? The fish are dying quick since I never saw any one of them swimming funny or acting funny. I just don't get it.

What time of the day do you find them dead?

In the morning?

Maybe at night, when the plants are using oxygen too, the O2 drops too low and causes suffocation.

That's my best guess.

OK guys you may be on to something, fish are found dead in morning everytime I think, not certain but I never see them act funny and find them dead early in day when I look at tank. If this is the case (and is it?) should I just turn my c02 off at night? But if this is the cause why didn't it happen early? I have had c02 going the same amount for about 4 weeks, fish just started dying 3 days ago

Yeah it totally sounds like oxygen deficiancy. Just run an airstone at night....and keep it off during the day. Put it on a timer so you dont have to think about it.

Bach,

What are the pH and KH in your tank?

(I think it's important to diagnose these sorts of things with as much science as possible. Calculating your CO2 concentration would be best to determine if what everyone is purposing is actually what is happening. Otherwise, this could just be grabbing at straws.)

I have 2 real nice Clown Loaches, small red tailed shark, 4 tiger barbs, 2 gouramis, and a small pictus cat. There is a 1 tetra, need to get a few more. Would it be better to turn off c02 at night or run airstone at night and leave c02 on?
