I am not able to check on/feed my fish monday-wednesday anymore, so I'm looking for automatic feeders. A feeder for NLS pellets would be awesome, I'd need it to work for those 3 days, and then I can go back to manually feeding the fish. What are the best brands, and how much should I expect to pay for them? If flakes would work easier than I could switch to those.Thank you guys!

If it's only 3 days I would just not feed them until you get back. While some are better than others, the automatic feeders have almost all been known to dump inaccurate, large amounts of food on occasion.

your fish will be fine for a few days with no food. don't worry about it one bit. besides, a mature tank (one that's been running a while) will have all sorts of little organisms all over the plants/decor that the fish will snack on.

Alright, they will be missing 2-3 days of food during this stretch weekly, could that have any bad effects on the fish? Should I feed extra or a special kind of food the day before?

For those 3 days I would not worry about feeding them. But if you just have the money to spend then I would probably look to see if they have a plug in one available. I know they did a couple years ago. I would not get one that takes batteries.

I used Shrimp pellets in mine without any problems.
This one looks like a newer design than what I have(haven't used in a few yrs now). So maybe it has a bell AND a whistle? : )
The one I had, you had to take apart and change a do dad to change from 2 to 4 feedings a day. It didn't have the dial you see in the top of this one. So I'd imagine thats where you can change settings.

I used to just skip a compartment here n there to get the feeding times I wanted.

If you do opt to not feed them for those 2-3 days (nothing wrong with that option, they'll be fine!), do NOT fed extra the day before. If that extra food goes uneaten or causes an ammonia spike, you will not be around to notice and correct the problem. Feed them only the regular amount.

Food isn't doled out on schedule in nature. :)
