FISH GROWING WHITE HAIR.

Indian glassfish appears to be growing white hairs all over its body. Ive done a bit of research... still not sure what this is or how to treat?

Any advice or nudges in the right direction?

Perhaps some sort of fungus... Do any of the other fish have it? You may want to isolate for treatment. Maracyn 1-2 treats fungus. Looks (from the pix) like ich, but if it's 'hairy' it's probably a fungus.

more than likely a fungal infection, columularis (sp) maybe, that kinda looks like cotton wool. r maybe something similar?

Will the maracyn kill the good bacteria in my filter?

Will it hurt the other fish to use maracyn with them in the tank. As I don't have a quarantine tank currently. They are actually in it.

Does look like fungus IME.Unless it having puberty when hair...jk. I don't think it will effect the other fish.

that would be lymphocystis, a virus. there really isnt anything you can do except QT the fish and hope it hasnt spread to everything else.
