Fish had Fry HELP!!

My platy had fry (pregnant from the LFS) and they are still alive and well. I freaked out too when I saw them because me being an animal lover I didn't want them to get eaten either. So I put lots of low, foreground plants in there and covered the filter with a piece of old panty hose (thanks to a suggestion from this board) and I have 6 little platy fry that are getting bigger by the day. Cute little buggers! :-) I just crumble the flakes a bit for them and they are doing great! Good luck!!

So my next question is the water is very cloudy right now and will need to be changed soon due to me turning the filter off until I can get out to get a nylons to put over the filter(I had none and can't get out till tomorrow). Tomorrow (thursday) was tank cleaning day.. every Thursday we do 20% water change on all the tanks. I'm thinking I'll have to wait to do it to the five gall. now since the fry are in there. Also is it normal for the fry to hang out on the top of the tank near the surface of the water?

Thanks...

when my fry were first born they hid under the rocks and crevices and plants, etc. Now that they are a few weeks old and growing like weeds, they tend to hang out in the middle of the tank and swim around the taller plants instead of the foreground plants like they did before.
