Oh, and I found out what he said it could have been as a "Victorian", he said it was a Blue (pronounced, unsure on spelling) Ay-Lie. I can't find anything on those.....
Im starting to think he might be an Aulonocara "Lwanda", but he as yellow as apposed to orange w/ the Lwanda. But his forehead is turning yellow & getting a yellowish tint just behind his head...
I guess while I have this thread up, do you guys have any ideas what these three little buggers are. One I'm pretty sure is an Aulonocara "albino" of some sort. & the other two I'm completely unsure. (girlfriend picked all three up out of an assorted african section as a "suprise")
You know, you might be right... which makes me feel dumb since the guy told me it was a (pronounced Ay-Lie)... must be how you pronouce it... it just doesn't seem to have the same body shape as most pictures of Ahlis I see...
Hard to tell really... IMO, looks to be in the Sciaenochromis family. The last pic looks very similar to a juvenile Sciaenochromis fryeri (Electric Blue Hap)I bought last week except mine has a white blaze & dorsal fin tips unlike your yellow. You may need to let him color up a little more to be certain. Very nice fish!
Sorry, I'm not positive enough to ID your new additions! Congrats though!
Edit: lol, oops! The Sciaenochromis fryeri and HAP AHLI are the same fish! Good call Pittbull!
(Not confident on the source validity too much variation) But, when I google Sciaenochromis fryeri/Electric Blue Hap/Ahli there are some that have just white or white w/ a very little yellow on the tip of the dorsal, w/ or w/o yellow on the forehead, an orangish caudal or blue w/ a yellow outline on it. Mine has yellow on the forehead w/ the white then yellow tip on the dorsal & yellow outline on the caudal. And one other thing I'm caught on is his lower jaw doesn't protrude like most Ahli's, rather his upper lip sticks out farther (almost Aulonocara ish). I have a younger Ahli & he looks like most I've seen (long slender body), the bigger one which I have posted has a thicker body, IMO.
As for the Ahli there are many forms and with depleted or exhausted genes, there are some poor specimens out there and you may have a cross but for the most it looks as if it is healthy so just keep up the good work.
