Our black molly is loosing color in her tail and is getting a yellow strip on her dorsolfin, also our swordtail is loosing color on his belly (getting white). Any ideas of what this might be?
Hi, sorry I dont have an answer, but I do have the same question. Instead of posting a new thread thought I'd jump in yours (hope you dont mind). Anyway, my clown loaches have done the exact same thing, they are now so light that you can barely see any color at all....
could be a number of things, diet, stress or sickness. Do you vary their diet or do they get the same thing all the time? Has anything changed, water conditioners, temperature, filtration, plants, decorations, other fish? Are there any other symptoms? The yellow stripe sounds firmiliar with some mollies I had so that may be normal coloration but without seeing it, would be hard to say. KYle
Many fish change their color according to their ambience. It's normal that fish that are kept on darker susbtrates and/or stonger lighting show stonger colors.
Can't tell your specific species, but with my gouramies if i forget to turn on the lamps in the morning, when I come home after work they all look pale, specially the 3-spoted ones, that barely show their spots.
