Been playing around with my new digital camera, thought I'd post a few pictures. they aren't turning out great, taking pics of the fish is really difficult.

Wow Guy, some of those pics are so sharp and in focus, they look 3D. I especially like pic #2

Many thanks, I have been having a really hard time getting a good pic of the fish tank. with the lighting, the fish moving all over, and my not knowing how the camera I got really works, I guess these couple came out half decent, but I think the camera is capable of doing better.

Too bad the clown fish in the pic you like has a chunk missing from his fin. I don't know what got ahold of him, but it's starting to heal back.

Thanks again,
Guy

Do you have a tripod? I found that I could take much, much better pics with the tripod. They are fairly cheap for a decent one--check Sears and Radio Shack, or Walmart.

But, those are great! I love having the digital camera, because I can take hundreds of pics, and not be mad about wasting money if only 2-3 turn out nice. And yes, I average about 25 pictures taken for everyone that I keep, on the fish tanks anyway.

I can't believe you're apologizing for those photos! The colors are great, and they look pretty sharp to me. Fish are really hard, they never seem to want to pose, and the delay with the digital camera shutter makes it all the more random. Anyway, great job, Guy! I can't wait to see more,

Those are excellent shots. It takes me sometimes up to 50 pictures just to get one decent one with the fish in focus. If you don't use a flash it is EXTREMELY challenging. Most of the time (especially with african cichlids) they are so busy begging up and down the glass for a handout that getting them to stand still is near impossible.

Nice maroon clown, BTW.

Thanks very much for the compliments. This photography stuff is tricky business but it's a lot of fun. I'm really happy with the new Digital Camera.

I'm going to take some test shots tonight at 1/60th of a second shutter speed instead of 1/125th of a second, to see if it will let in more light. Hopefully the fish will sit still for a bit while I try it.

I'll post the results.

OrionGirl:

A tripod is on my list of things to get. I found a nice 60" pod at Bestbuy for something like 49 bucks. I think I'll try to pick it up after XMas.

I'm sorry for appologizing :) Whats that, double appologizies? your pictures you took and showed a while ago actually got the bug in me to get a digicam. If you remember I was thinking about the Canon G5, but opted for the Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR instead after research tons of models.

Riptide:

Thanks, and yes your right, the fish doing the "feed me dance" is a PITA (Pain in the A$$ if you didn't know). I sit and look at them through the view finder for about 5 minutes, just tracking them, waiting for the perfect moment to fire! It's a lot of fun... and frusterating...

Sregnar35:

I'll send you a really good high resolution copy if you want to use the picture as a desktop background. Let me know.

Thanks again,
Guy

Very nice pictures. You said in General Chit Chat these were all shot on ISO 800? Whenever I try to shoot with 400 ISO (highest my camera goes) there's way too much noise/grainy texture. Maybe that's one advantage of the Digital Rebel over the Canon G3...
