Fish Prices?

I just lost most of my fish due to the ice storm that hit Missouri and went to a local fish store to start replenishing my tanks and was amazed at the price of many of the fish I had planned on replacing. I order my food online and hadn't bought any new fish for 3 years and just can't believe how much some of the fish were going for.
The clown loachs were what stopped me in my tracks, 3 years ago at this same store I paid $2.98 each, now they are going for $13.50!!!
Is this about the same in other members area's for a clown loach?

It could also be affected by the ice storm. keep that in mind. Right now at petsmart they are going for, here in knoxville tn, witch is still unaffected so far (not tomarow though) but the weather, has them for 3.95 a pop. That was about 3 days ago - last time i was at a lfs.

they usually go for around 15 bucks by me. it all has to do with inflation, demand, etc.

for a clown up here in Lincoln, Nebraska you can get one for $2-$4, depends on the store. I am guessing it is b/c of the storm, and the demand on them right now.

Depends on the size. Here in CT small clowns go for 8-12 dollars and medium go for 15+. Clown's are all wild caught and shiped in from asia so there tends to be an expense with them.

around me prices are all over the place. some stores will have some fish 25% cheaper then the average other 3x more then the average. there are some fish that prices have jumped up a lot more then that. i think it all depends on where you live.

~$10 CAD each for the small ones, $15 for the slightly larger ones.

It could be that the store lost all their stock, and is trying to raise enough cash to survive.
