I just witnessed one of my Discus throwing-up. It was a good amount, probably 1/2 of what was in his stomache, first it was bubbles which caught my eye, then followed by a lot of cloudy pellets.

Is this a cause for concern? This same fish I witnessed a weird discharge from it's anal area, kinda like diahrea. Sorta squirted out and dissolved in the water immediately.

Hi Shawn,
I have not seen or heard about anything like that! Good luck to you though, hopefully it's something simple like a case of overeating.

Seems to be the consensis over at Simply Debbi. Apparently, it's not unheard of over there, but it sure freaked me out! It was also kinda embarassing, my brother came over to visit, and noticed it too!

The poor guy/gal didn't look like he enjoyed it at all!

All seems well now, I'll keep a close eye on him.

On a side note, I think two of them are starting to pair off, but I'm not certain.

Shawn, as I posted at SD, I've had that happen but it was when I added Prazi Pro. The diarrhea part I've also seen in that same fish! No one has ever heard of that happening, not on SD and not on Bidka, either, including me, but I saw it. Kind of a tan colored soft/liquidy thing that dispersed in the water right away. The Discus was eating well at the time, and he still is. He's just paired up with Pearl, the new WB and wants to spawn. I never saw the diarrhea again. He's thick and healthy looking. Maybe a 24 hr. virus? LOL One thing I do recall though is that shortly afterward I began feeding them all with Fenbendazole flakes to deworm them, as I had some with worms earlier in the year. Maybe that's why I never saw the diarrhea again, who knows?
