Fishless Cycle Day 12: Please Advise

It shouldn't. 8 is definitely not a problem. You may find that you pH goes a little high for a while, and then drops a bit during cycling. I believe that a very low pH is more of a concern for stalling the cycle. Keep an eye on your KH to make sure it doesn't drop too low and adversly affect your pH.

After careful anaylsis (actually, just getting a dropper) it looks like 10 drops of Ammonia will raise the pH 2 ppm with standard issue storebrand ammonia, and a 20 gallon aquarium. Does this sound somewhere in the right area? Before I was adding a capful which was probably 50 drops giving me 10 ppm :P

It depends on the ammonia concentration. I don't know about measuring in drops, I used mL measurements, but it sounds like you've found what works for you...now you can add ammonia more precisely. :)
