This is probably a bit of paranoia - but I plan to put a 29g into a room with a fairly decent sized sound system that I will be using for what it's worth.

The 10g in here has been fine...am I being paranoid?

I wouldn't do it.

Most fish may seem fine but there's no way pounding loud music is appreciated by them.

So I don't think you're being paranoid at all. I think you're being responsible.

i used to have a 55gallon tank on TOP of a stereo (one of those old countertop style stereos) and the fish lived there happily for 12 years.

my stereo in the front room is about 3 feet from the 75g tank.. and the fish show no signs of distress even when it is turned up as high as i will tolerate.

Ah... and here I always thought loud noises around tanks were bad... such as tapping on the glass as it hurts their eardrums or what ever it is they have.

I keep the sub across the room from the tank, but one of the mains is <12" away... I have not noticed any issues. I know my JD listened to a lot of LOUD music during my college years... he was OK.

I only have an iPod docking station in my fish room that I listen to when I am in there. I turn it up loud sometimes and it is a Bose unit so it puts out a great deal of bass and so far they fish don't seem to be affected.

i've got the back speakers of my surround sound right above a 55gal. they dont even jump when the music comes on suddenly.

but if you're nervous about it, then i wouldn't do it. better safe than sorry i guess.

I agree with SSkream,....if YOU are nervous about it, then by all means don't do it.

Here's to you being a pretty darned responsible hobbyist & wanting the best for your fish.
