Friends I tried all day today to find a flat piece of rock / stone for my oscar tank but was able to find any - Can I use something else like a Ceramic Tile or something ? Kindly guide me what are my options...

I went to home depot went to the outdoor patio area. They have premade slate sections, its like a 2ft x 2ft section of mesh with slate peices glued all over it. Its for people who want slate acents in there concrete patios. Thing is they are just glued to the mesh but they fall off all the time. Find a employee and ask how much they charge for the ones that have fallen off the mesh. My store had about 3-4 peices laying on the ground in front of the display that had fallen off. He said well we can't sell them that way so just take them if anyone asks tell them I said it was ok.

There is no need to add anything. When a male is ready to mate he will create a depression in the substrate according to what HE likes and he will change it up until the female approves of it. When she is satisfied she will lay her eggs for him to fertilize.

They sell slate and other flat rocks at specialty fish stores. At least, that is where I have gotten mine in the past.
