Is florish and florish exel bad for water wisteria? Each time I add these to my tank my wisteria seems to wilt..should I add less? I add 1 capful to a 55g tank, the substrate is eco-complete under playsand. My lighting is about 2 watts/gallon

Thank you,
Ginger

I don't have water wisteria (hygro difformis) but I have other hygophilas and they are not affected by Excel nor Flourish.

What size bottle of Excel are you using? Quoting from the following thread re erroneous label instructions. Perhaps your cap is a 10 mL one and therefore you are overdosing?

Well I got my response from seachem.

Hello,
What size bottle of Excel do you have? We have discovered a misprint
on the 2L and 4L label. This could result in a overdose of Excel.
These caps are actually 10 ml not the 5 mL that is stated on the
label. This sounds like what could occur if that was the case.

I will get some products out to you to help clear up this problem and
compensate you for the trouble.

Apparently this product has some biocidal properties at higher dosages and the misprint caused me to overdose killing my nitrifying bacteria. Ammonia tested at the maximum the test kit will go this morning but the ammonia binding chemcals are still at work. NH3 form of ammonia is at 0 so thats good. Nitrite is going up showing that the bio-spira is working. I will do a 90% waterchange as soon as the 48 hours of the bio-spira is up to reduce levels. At least seachem recognizes the problems and is doing what they can to fix them. This event will probably save lots of other fish from similar problems. I still love their company and will buy their products just will verify dosages with them prior to dosing products which warn not to overdose.

I wish Excel would slow down Wisteria growth. I dose 10 ml daily in my 75 gallon tank and my Wisteria grows about 4-6 inches a week. I've considered pulling it because it needs to be trimmed so much but I like the look to much.

Thanks, I checked the cap and I must have the 10ml cap. First I filled the cap and when I poured it in a measure cup (the cup that come on top a medicine bottle) it went just under the 10ml mark, so I am going to start adding just 1/2 cap and see if that helps.

Ice: I hope mine starts growing like yours...I'm down to just 1 plant (well its 3-4 stems) but I had quite a bit and I love it so much I don't want to loose my last bunch!

Oh I have a question what IS the best way to trim it up?

Thanks again everyone!

I just cut the main stem about halfway down the plant and then usually give away the tops, or get credit for them at the LFS.

Mine have a lot of roots hanging down off the stems. Some people don't like that look but I find it to be more natural that way. There aren't people trimming roots in the wild and I keep the wisteria in the back corners so its not as noticable anyway.

never had a issue with excel and wisteria.
I dose c02 and excel and the plant grows crazy.
I cut the tops of the plant when gets out of control and re plant the tops

Ok, thanks everyone
