I'm setting up my 55 and my LFS has both products available.

I'm wondering if there is any actual difference as they look about the same in the bag and the only difference I see are the size of the bag and the price.

Florite: $14.99 for 15# bag

Flora Base: $9.99 on sale for a 12# bag.

The FB is obviously the better deal but I'm wondering if there is actually any significant difference.

NOTE: The LFS uses the FB in their plant tank where they sell the stuff.

comments? suggestions?? Opinions???

If you are talking about Seachem Fluorite and RedSea Flora Base, then hell yes there's a difference! Fluorite is superior in many ways, I'm just beginning to find that out as I used Flora Base in a small 3G, it hardly holds plant stems in place, they're always floating to the top, the stuff feels very light its a wonder it can hold anything...I have also read on another forum that not all plants like Flora Base, but maybe that's just a rumor. Fluorite may be more expensive but it has a solid track record...spend the money now so you don't have to change your substrate later.......another consideration is the appearance, F.B. is monochromatic, whereas Fluorite has different colors...just my two cents

Then I guess I spend a little more & get the Flourite!
