Cant decide on which, I want something that is quite dark and natural looking as if you are looking at the bottom of the amazon river. I feel that flourite dark may be too light to look natural. Does anyone have experience with these substrates? I do like that they are pretty cheap cmopared to eco complete.

Neither one would look like the amazon bottom to be honest. Go with whatever looks good to you.

I have the Flourite Dark mixed with some gravel in my South East Asia tank, and I've got Carib-Sea's Eco-Complete in my Amazon. I wish I'd seen the Eco-Complete before I got the Flourite Dark, because the dark really isn't all that, and I like the look of the Eco-Complete SOOO much better. It's not black, per se, under the water... more a dirt color. As it should be! :) I'll use it on any new tanks I do, that's for sure!

i dont care about it being strictly amazonian, i just want something that isnt grey looking like my soilmaster select. Is the flourite dark like dirt looking? I think that would be the best. Anyone use the dark?

i use fourite dark and i love it. my plants grow very well in it. its a lighter color in the bag but once its wet its pretty dark and looks like dirt to me. just make sure u rinse it very well.
