I might be looking into buying a tank set up that comes with a Fluval 304. I know the Fluval brand is a quality one but I don't know much about the makes of their canisters. I am having a bit of trouble finding much information on this model. I'd like to know if this is a good filter. The tank it comes with is a 75g so is the 304 strong enough to handle a tank of that size? My only other canister experience is with a Sunsun that I really like so I am hoping I am able to figure out this Fluval just as well.

(I will be really glad when I can stop looking at all these tank upgrades and finally settle on one! I feel like I am all over the place with potential upgrades lately! lol)

bump?

A single 304 is a bit small to be the only filtration on a 75 gsllon tank IMO. It also depends on your setup/stocking, but I keep larger fish and usually end up with crowded tanks as they spawn and grow.
My 75's are filtered by 2 aquaclear 110's on each, though the 3rd 75 only runs on one hob with several powerheads (2 aquackears w/quickfilters and a koralia nano) to help circulate the water and a large hydrosponge to collect more debris. The 304 would be fine as a second filter, I run one on a 55 with a couple of large powerheads (also w/quickfilters) running a reverse-flow UG filter. That tank isn't as crowded as the 75's though.
Overall the weak point of the fluvals is the impeller cover, the "ears" break off quite easily. Personally I prefer eheim's (for canisters) and hob's in general (easier to clean), but the fluval came along with the 55.

Thanks, I've had some suggestions on MFK to add a HOB along with the 304. I'll either throw my AC 50 onto it or put that on my 29g and have the Sunsun 302 and the Fluval 304 on the 75g.

the sunsun and the fluval would be a good combo on the 75G tank.

I have two 304's running on my 130, and they are doing just fine. Granted, I have two mag 350's as well normally, but both are down right now, and the 304's seem to be keeping up.

I like the 304's and think they are a decent filter. I want to pick up a 405 and see how they do.

I have a fluval 305 which is similar running on my 50 gallon along side a cascade hob. I honestly don't think I would run this by it self on anything bigger than a 50.
