Fluval Motor Died

So the last couple of days one of my fluval 405's kept pushing the impeller cover out causing it to stop.
This is the most normal problem I have with them.
Only this time it was coming every 5 minutes, which is way too fast.
It may happen once or twice over 6 months.

I believe that there is a problem with the motor and I had to buy a whole new filter for $120.

I have contacted Fluval for warranty info, so I may end up having a spare.

Anyone else have any issues with their filter motor crashing like this?

Wish I could help, but I dont know squat about canister filter.

Much more likely that the impeller is/was the problem. If you bought an identical filter try swapping impellers and see.

The impeller looks fine. I cleaned it out before running it again, but still nothing.

I'll give that a shot first.

It wasn't the impeller but the white "pole" that runs into the impeller through the cover.
There should be a small black tip to it and that was missing.

Well I now have a back up for real, lol.

Keep an eye out for a canister from someone who broke the hose fittings off the motor unit.
