Fluval Polywool

Where can I get polywool, or do you guys know a substitute for it...The only LFS i have are petsmart, and another little one that i refuse to go to because of painted fish. Or even if you guys know of a reliable online store that i could get it from, i usually order from "www.thatpetplace.com" but they dont even have it. Got any suggestions? thanks for the help in advance

Just incase you dont know.. Polywool is "a common filter material that can be used to provide an inexpensive mechanical screen in the lower media baskets. This will remove fine particles and keep biologica lmaterials from being clogged prematurely. It will polish aquarium water to a crystal clear finish." (quoted from fluval manual)

I bought a big bag of this stuff for 2.99$ thats real cheap and i figured i do have one empty media container on each of my canister filters. . Im just hesitant on using it though because im worried that it will clog up my impeller or something. I might put it in though on my next cleaning... Ive heard some cats say they buy it in bulk peices and cut out the peices accordingly although mine is more like cotton puffs than actual pieces that you can cut ...

Yeah, see, Fluval actually sells a bottle of it, just like there other media (ammonia remover, peat fiber, etc.) I was just curious if its the same stuff as those sheets of fibers. My LFS carries some of the packages of the fiber stuff. What if you use a biobag or a filterbag for it, will that prevent too many strands of fibers coming out. Just curious...thats for the info Milky

for the models with different sections i read in a post somewhere
that you can put it in the basket before the impeller
but put a thin foam filter piece cut to size over it to keep it in place
so it doesnt clog the impeller

dont know how feasible this is but thought it worth mentioning
