Foods?

Haha. I've heard that you can buy it frozen (??) I would think it a lot of work to chop up a cows heart. On the bowels, especially. If you're a vegetarian, would you feed your fish meat? How bout other animals? Huh.

I found something that said to trim fat and veins put it into a blender with a small amount of water and blend until in small pieces, put into small bags and freeze. Feed several times a week. (feed the fish or the bag?)

Maybe I should ask this in the Cichlid Forum. Someone is always writing that they are feeding fish beef heart. Maybe a moderator will move it.:D

I buy my beefheart from the butcher block about 1/2 lb I cut it into about 20 week sized prtions then throw it in the freezer when I get it out of the freezer I cut it in cubes pellet sized qubes for my oscar and feed raw. My Frontosa also loves it.

A lot of us dedicated (NUTS?) fish people make our own frozen beefheart. There are tons of recipes out there but most go something like this. Remove all fat and sinew from beefheart. Place in blender with your add in ingredients, shrimp, spinach, carrots, garlic, and on and on, blend till smooth. Add in clear gelitan and water, lay out flat, freeze and feed to your fish. It is a lot of work but it is worth it.
