Its simply a water change done the hard way...
Be better off doing a old fashioned 10-15% PWC every other day, less stress on the fish than prolonged screwing around in the tank and multiple water additions at one time

The biggest misconception I've read is the 10% water change....With a 10% you are doing almost nothing.......The minimum you want to do is 25% or upwards of 50%.

So again I would state this is not a regular occurance for me, but through experimenting and ideas we all can develop our own methods (some work some don't). I totally think regular maintenance is the way to go, I do between 25% and 50% water change and vac every 2 weeks, every 4 weeks a filter cleaning. But how often have you all seen people here complaining about: high nitrates, cloudy water, algea.......By doing the above you can change out you complete water volume with very little stress to the fish and very little time allowed for it. Again I for one cannot do daily changes to change my tank takes almost an hour and I don't have that time.

I guess I am defending my actions, but the proof is in the results.............20ppm and an hour later 7ppm (same as tap water).

Bmeasure--sorry, your post just sounded like you were saying additional wastes weren't removed with each subsequent change...
