Is there any type of medication or chemical used for freshwater fish to ship out of country or state?

My father asked me if I can google the name of the medication. I wasn't sure, but is there such thing? If so, what's the brand.

Thank you very much ^^

Clove oil will kill the fish and is used as a method to euthanize.

JM's post is dead on and why you tend to receive fish in blue water.

Not when used in a certain method. It has been known before to sedate certain fish for operations, and it is possible to bring the fish back out of it's sedated mood. It's often only used for bigger fish such as koi with tumors or other problems of the sorts.

Agreed and understood, but I've never heard of anyone using it for shipping fish. Sounds inherently dangerous...

Bag Buddies actually contains a tiny bit of clove oil to calm the fish a bit during shipping. Not something I would think an inexperienced shipper would want to start adding straight to the shipping water since it is used to euthanize fish too.
