freshwater sump

I am trying to learn about freshwater sumps, but the only information i can
find is written for people who already have an understanding of the topic.
Can anyone suggest some websites that may aid in my attempts to educate myself ?

Check out this site. What you're doing is draining overflow from your tank into a container below. It runs through a bunch of filters and is pumped back from the other end of the container up into your fish tank.

These are not recommended for planted tanks with CO2 dosing as you will be out gassing all the CO2 you are injecting.

I'd highly recommend them even for co2 injected tanks, as long as its pressurized with a decent size co2 tank. The link above to melevsreef is an excellent source of info, just a couple things you dont need on FW like a skimmer. But all the basics are there.
