Friday the 13th started bad... or good...

My wife caught a huge 'black crappie' !

About 16 inches, and pic proof is going to Fl. Fish and Game - Big Fish Program.....

Friday the 13th was excellent!

let's see...I went to work, made it there ok. The day wasn't hellacious, was actually boring. Got out on time. Yep: sounds like a good day to me.

Our Friday the 13th was hell..... We were flooded out. If you've been watching the news you've probably heard that the northwest is almost at record breaking rain. Our sump line got plugged and the entire sump drained into the first floor of our house - which is where my office is...(with all 4 aquariums and computer setup. I was on a contract job at the time but rushed home when I got word. It took us until 8pm last night to get the room cleared, and the whole time the water had just been pouring into the house. The plumbers came out, but it took them 4 hours to get here because there were about 21 emergency jobs ahead of us. Today we have the edenvale crew here (restoration specialists).. thankfully our home insurance is going to cover this. the project manager for edenvale said that out of the 60 insurance companies available, our company, ING, is the only one that covers this sort of thing and that he's had to tell family after family that they are out of luck over the last 24 hours.

Last night was a lot of work. It was really hard for me to move my office stuff before my aquarium stuff.. Unfortunately I work from home, so by saving the equipment at least I can keep working from the 2nd floor of the house. Finally got my tanks out too. My reef is ok... not sure that my fish are too happy with me, and I ended up breaking a number of trumpet coral frags in the process, but otherwise it seems ok. I got the freshwater tanks out this morning and they are also ok. Cross your fingers that I don't have an ich outbreak.
Let me tell you, having to move a reef tank in high speed mode is hell.... but as much as it was hard to take it apart and move in all that water - it was almost equally easy. The water levels in the house allowed me to practically float out tubs of rock and jugs of water.

Wow Dec......I've been seeing in the news about the bad time you folks are having over there....sorry to hear about your home, but Thank God you're insurance will cover it ! It pays to check that out once in awhile.

My Friday was like any other day...went to work....came home....went to my son's basketball game....they WON thier first game !!! Guess Friday 13 is not so bad afterall ! :D

Thanks EMG.
The edendale crew just left, they took out all the carpet and giprock and have this high powered drying equipment running down there. As much as it's a pain in the butt and frustrating as all hell, we've walked away from this fairly lucky - we don't actually have to leave our home, all the sentimental items were saved, my fish and corals are all doing really well, insurance will take care of the damage, and the only real loss that can't be replaced is an insignificant couch - we walked away pretty darn lucky if you ask me. The whole time I was pushing bins of live rock and fish out of the house all I could think of were the people in new orleans who didn't even have that opportunity.
I'm at the point where I can laugh about it now too (just don't tell my partner - we're not at the same point yet)... thinking about floating those bins out of the house makes me chuckle.

well for me my Friday the 13th always goes well nothing ever happens to me or is it that the bad luck is building up for the next time :D
