I would like to know some experiences with other critters to put in with my fish. I don't have fish yet....but am trying to get an idea of what I want.

I've heard the African Dwarf Frog is a good addition, but it didn't say what the species of the fishes were.

I'm "planning" a peacful community type tank.

So...what are some opinions and advice? Thanks :)

ADFs are great for community aquariums. They stay small and are so funny to watch. FW shrimp are also good for community aquariums. Amano shrimp eat algae so that also helps.

i got dwarf frogs they great with my betta.. ^_^

I didn't think of that. That would probably be to deep for ADFs. I've heard of some sufficating themselves in 30 gallons.

What size fish are you planning on getting? If they will be fairly large (5" or more), African clawed frogs could work. they are like ADFs but much bigger. You must be careful with what fish you add though, as they have a tendency to eat anything that will fit in their mouths (also if you keep them you should avoid long thin fish like weather loaches - the frog will try to eat them but won't be able to, and both end up dead).

Otherwise, shrimps are good. If you want something a bit different, try a Cameroon armoured shrimp - they're a little expensive but get quite big and have weird little fans instead of claws.
