i have a 80 gal tank with 12 assorted peacocks a 2 yellow labs, 1 red zebra, 2 red fin borlei??, and 1 male? frontosa. Anyway the frontosa seems to hide more than the others and he? also comes out to eat brine and pellets but no algae flakes. He comes out only to eat and has been coming out more and more just to sit there and sometimes movement scares him. No scraches no missing fin very healthy 3" front. Why is he not more active?? Your responses will be appreciated.

Frontosas are generally shy fish (when they are smaller anyways). Especially when kept with malawis, which are always moving and might scare the Front a bit. They are just chillin, minding thier own buisness. They dont like to school with the malawis.

Also they are naturally carnivorous fish, which would be why they dont like the algae flakes that malawis eat.

Its best not to mix lakes because of different diets and temperments, but if you dont notice anyone picking on him and he's getting enough meaty foods then it should be ok.
