OK i'm a dope and now my fish have trained me to feed them nothing butthis stuff...

Anyhow, where's the best place to getthis stuff? They (SA Cichlids) seem to love blood worms in cube form but i can't seem to locate a good mail order sorce.

What other frozen stuff can i feed them? and again where can i get it?

Thanks All!

Hey you are the master here. feed them nothing but pellets and i garauntee they will eat them when they get hungry enough. i have an oscar that eats almost strictly shrimp pellets. he is beautiful colors very healthy looking. also have a huge black belt chiclid eats the same thing. i do give them a treat every once in awhile like some fresh leaf worms or maybe i will throw a dozen gold fish in there for them. but mostly its the pellets. when i got the oscar from my son he was feeding it strictly goldfish. i told him i will take the oscar but i am not feeding goldfish all the time he will have to start to eat whats on the table. if starves himself to death too bad. geeeez i made my kids eat what was on the table. the fish can too.:D. but if you do want to feed frozen it can be cheaper to just make your own. just get some mini ice cube trays use what ever you think they might like to eat. cut into proper size for your fish, mix with a little water and pour into cube tray let freeze. or you can just pour it in a shallow cookie pan when frozen just smash it up a little. i have used frozen haddock, pollock. shrimp. also take meal worms. wax worms. red worms. make them a regular smorgasboard (sp)

Go to www.drsfostersmith.com and type "frozen food" into the search function. From there you're on your own.

I agree, however, that your fish should eat pellets etc. in addition to frozen food. Not only is it important for nutritional reasons, but for financial considerations as well. Although all my fish love frozen food, I have trained them to eat shrimp pellets, Tetra Color bits, algae wafers, freze-dried plankton, and spirulina pellets as well.

Andy, you live in the most densely populated state in the US.
you will have no problem finding frozen food locally without the expense of mail order. I would feed Hikari floating Cichlid pellets, frozen bloodworms, and for a treat home raised feeder fish such as guppies, mollies or even confict fry.

yep thanks Harry and others. The sites can save some bucks for frozen food but i would have to order a ton since they need to overnight the stuff and pack it in dry ice.

I am telling ya andy the best thing to do is just make your own. Its really not all that much work and the savings is big. also you know whats going in there. Just my opinion. but thats what i do.

You should ask your LFS if they have any. I didn't know that mine did until I noticed the freezer behind the counter. He had all sorts of frozen foods. I was surprised that he didn't advertise the stuff. I started feeding my labs, and peacocks....they devour the stuff. Thier main diet is green flake food though.
