I've been having a small fugus problem in my 10g apisto "honeymoon suite". Since there are only 2 fish, sometimes they miss pieces of the "Formula One" frozen food that I feed them as a staple in the mornings. By the next day the food is covered in fungus. I never had this problem in my 29g.

The tank has a flourite substrate, slate decor, and is lightly planted with java moss and java fern. The only light is a 15w incandescent on one side of the hood and a screw-in compact flourescent that is mostly blacked out on the other side. The water parameters are:
kh=2
gh=1
ph=6.8
ammonia=0
nitites=0
nitrates=15ppm

What kind of tank conditions promote fungus growth, and is this a problem for eggs? The first batch dissappeared after only a day (not uncommon for a first spawn though). I'm worried that subsequent spawns will fungus more readily since my tank seems to be a real fungus farm.

I'm not a fungus expert, but your gh and kh numbers don't seem right. you should be around 100 on each. More or less depending on water quality in your area. Is the ph where you want it for your fish? 6.8 is low. However, I used to keep my tank around 7.0 with my old fish.

Sorry. should have specified. gh and kh are in degrees hardness (1dh=approx 18 ppm). It's low because I'm using RO water. The apistos I have in there need it that low in order to get in the mood, and for thier eggs to be fertilized. As for the ph, i'd get it even lower if I could. Again, these fish like thier ph in the low 6's and even down in the 5's.
