So, amidst all my water changes I was thinking, "Why do they call this tube a gravel vac?" I figured it was just named that way because it cleans, and vacuum cleaners clean too. I've been it using to scoop the water out and waiting for it to drain down the little pipe. Well, after my third water change I figured there had to be a reason it's called a gravel vac. I mean I had posted asking about water changes, but I figured you guys were just really good at scooping the detritus out of the tank. So, finally I just Googled, "how a water vac works." or something similar and realized how stupid I have been!
Lo and behold, it actually does suck the water out if used properly! Wow! Water changes are like one third of the time they used to be. I feel like such an idiot but at the same time I don't care because it is so much easier.
