I was looking for some inexpensive lighting options and while at Home Depot I found a 48" dual 54 watt bulb T5 HO fixture for $40.It was posted as a new procuct. I bought 2 and now have 216 watts for my 100 gal tank for 80 bucks plus the cost of the bulbs. You have to wire and custom mount them in your hood but it was worth the extra trouble for that cost.

No they do not sell the bulbs I went to the fish store for the exact mix I wanted my plants have improved already after a week of use.

Just curious. How do you know they are HO fixtures and not NO? I've bought a few 2 footers and I can't see anything that said they are HO. But then again, I didn't have my glasses on, lol!

Depends on the Home Depot, Most have the T5 fixtures (They are HO because that is the only Ballast HD seems to order from China) and the T5 bulbs themselves are usually kept near the fixtures and "not" with the other bulbs. That drove me nuts when I redid all my Garage fixtures with new Ballasts

So I went to my local Home Depot and they sell a 4 bulb 48" fixture with reflectors for $89. Bought one plus a cord and plug for $108 total. Then I bought 4 6500k bulbs for $55. Spent another $4 on 2 1/4 inch 2 foot roods, 4 washers and 4 nuts to mount it to the top of my 120g. Just need to get a timer and put this and my DIY 10 led strip on it and I'll be good to go! Gotta love cheap DIY's!!!
