G.E. door and window Silicon

I was wondering if using G.E. door and window Silicon I or II to reseal one of my tank, will it be ok for fishes? I've found a few people that used them but didn't comment on if their fishes survived.
I'm trying to find something affordable not ridicilously priced silicon sealant!

Contact the company to see if it's aquarium safe. You don't want to risk using a product that isn't.
 
You can buy commercial sealants, but you have to read some labels. DAP makes an aquarium safe sealant, but most of those sold for windows/doors/kitchens/bathrooms include chemicals to kill algaes and mildews, and these are NOT aquarium safe products. So--no, what you have there won't work, but with some careful shopping, you can get some that will.
 
Yeah, I read somewhere else that mentioned to not buy Kitchen or bath silicon cause they have chemical that kills algae and mildew... I wish I knew what the chemical to watch out for. I'm hoping that somebody here have some experience with using silicon
 
I do--Home Depot carries the Dap product. It specifically says it is aquarium safe--all the others will state that they are algae/mildew resistant.
 
Dap makes a wide range of products. Some of their silicone has Microban in it, so do look for "aquarium safe" on the packaging, as OrionGirl suggested.
 
Ok, most of those silicon that are labelled aquarium safe are always small! I wanted to find one that are good sized like chaulking tubes. I guess I'll try Lowe's here again and check and see if Wal-mart have anything.

Don't use household anything,
They are right,,,,100% silicone is what you wanna use,
Now before the other forum I visit crashed, there was a thread there, someone told what G.E. one to use, It's GE 100% silicone 1 or II, but I don;t recall off hand,
Now reading lables will not always tell you if it is or not safe for aquar.,
one of the Co. that it use to say it was safe for aquariums, had a lawsuit on them becuase someone used it and the tank didn't hold or killed all the fish or something......
So it was removed from the labels.

Just an added Note,
if your resealing a tank, DO NOT take the silicone out of the seams, leave that alone and just remove the Silicone on the exposed flat parts of the glass,
Most of the 100% types of goopy are not as strong as the stuff on the tank now, and will save you allot of headaches down the road more then likely..
