I have an abundance of these crayfish and would like to trim down my pack. I have about 8 male Procambarus alleni crays that are about 3-5 inches in total length. They are almost full grown but will get a bit larger. The crays are about 6 months old now. These types of crays are native to Florida but these particular crays have been breed for their spectacular claws and brilliant blue coloration. They are plant and fish eaters and would do very well in a tank with a few fish that you wouldn't mind losing a few of here and there. The crays can be used to hold down a population of fish such as guppies, or other live bearers, that multiply rapidly as the crays can't really catch the smaller fish but do get lucky once in a while. I would not place the crays with larger fish as the larger fish may attack the cray (although the fish may get eaten as well). I am thinking a good price would be $6 for each cray plus priority shipping of $7. They do fine in a wide variety of temperatures and a heater is not necessary for these crays as they do well at room temps and are comfortable at temps from 65-80 degrees.

I've always been a big fan of these guys but they would get destroyed in my tanks.

Thanks! They do really shine in their own tanks or in tanks with fish that you wouldn't mind losing a few of, like a guppy tank. I'd never keep them in a tank where they would fall prey to the fish :^( Those tanks are for marmorkrebs!

so about how big do they get?

Minimum tank size?
