I have a empty but cycled 20 gallon long that I would like to put 4 GBR in would this be OK?

Tank has
Ehiem 2010 pick up filter Tanks up to 60-160 ltrs
100 watt Jaeger heater
25 Watt growlux fluro
Substrate is black Tahitian moon
It also has a few terracota pipes and will eventy will have a few low light plants

I also have 4 guppy's in a ten gallon that I would like to move in with the rams?
The guppies tend to stay near the surface so was hoping that this is doable
Plus I am hoping the rams will clean up any fry as I am running out of ideas.
I am not that worried about breeding the rams was just hoping for reassurance that they will get along with the guppies.
I realise that this isn't a normal fish mix but would like to have the ten gallon free to make a lucky Betta the sole owner of a mansion:)
Thanks for any advice

Dan

I have heard of guppies/rams mix. Personally I would choose something...a little faster with less tail to have a possibility of getting nipped at.

Also if you get four, one male of course with plenty o' hiding places for the females who are not breeding at the time.

Have fun with the rams. Great fish! :)

Personally I would say that a 20 is too small for 4 Rams, especially if you end up with a mated pair that decide to spawn. I have three in a 55 and they get a little testy with each other in there at times, even with all that extra space.
It also may be tough to maintain the high water quality that they need with 4 in a tank that small.

I concur.
if you do not have a pair you can place a male in with 2-3 females be ready to move the unpaired females when a pair bond is formed.

Hey guys just a quick update and thanks for all the replies:)

I put the all 4 rams in the 20 gallon thinking it would be OK as one is still a juvi,(Little ignorant i know) they are with my 4 guppies and a few fry.

The rams get along just fine with the guppies and my Betta loves his new ten gallon with a few khulis to flare at.
However after a few days I noticed the big colorful male guarding one of the smaller rams (with a big pink belly) who had taken to hanging around a nice piece of driftwood, the big guy who had started acting really aggressively and protecting pink belly , so consciously I decided to move the other 2 rams back into my 75 gallon community tank:lipssealedsmilie: no surprise.

I waited till the morning to make the move and what a surprise to see a perfect circle of eggs stuck to the driftwood with both rams unmercifully nipping my giant apple snail as he tried to make his way to an Earlie breakie

soo made the move and and have left the newly formed couple to look after their spawn.

Will be asking few more question about looking after ram eggs and fry later, this time paying alot more attention to the obviously more experienced members of the forum anyhow go to go as my boss is looking suspicious "duck"

thanks dan
