I just bought these beautiful wild caught geo. brasiliensis on impulse.

So if anybody can give me a personal experiences in terms or aggression, size, and general requirements. I would be eternally grateful.

Congratulations on buying what is personally my fav fish. How many did you buy and how big is your tank? They do command a lot of room and filtration. They are cousins to the eartheaters, and need a substrate fine enough (and not sharp) to sift through all day long. Some rockwork is needed as territory markers and driftwood is nice. Don't be too fussy about decor, they will do the decorating themselves. They will usually tear apart any plants also. As they sift they stir sediment, so a powerful filter is a must. Their aggression is also not to be underestimated. My adult male (about 12") does not tolerate any other cichlid in his 75G. However raising juveniles together in a large enough tank should result in a peaceful co-existence. Food is typical of any SA/CA cichlid; Hikari pellets, mealworms, off-cuts, and feeder fish if raised on them. My brasiliensis was never raised on feeder fish, and hence lives happily amongst a school of danios and swordtails! They will become very tame also. Their colour also improves with age, and the more intense their black spot the happier they are. A lovely fish. Enjoy.
