Heyya folks. Just telling all new folk to get a skimmer. My Seaclone removes copious amounts of crap and I made the dumb mistake of not briefly washing my carbon before I put it in, thus releasing tiny little specs of black all over the tank. By morning, the skimmer cup was black with carbon goodness. Spend money even if you dont' have it and get one!

Uhhh...Why are you putting carbon in your tank anyway? Removing medications, tannins, octopus ink...I can't think of any other reason to use it. Carbon is used up pretty quickly, so after about 3-4 days it's not working anymore, it's just another bed for bacteria. Not worth it to run in 24/7, IMO.

I read somewhere it may help with Copper. I actually meant for this to be in the newbie section. People here are probably far and above what I have to say. Sorry folks!
