I'm looking into buying a Honda Del Sol. I have wanted one since they came out. They are kind of hard to find though. I did manage to find one that was already kinda riced though. Here is what I know about it already:
-1.5 litre non-VTEC engine(exactly what I want)
-already reupholstered
-automatic transmission (I want a stick)
-valve cover oil leak
-door locks don't work (repair costs?)
-has ugly wing and rust damage on the passenger side. ~$600 to fix
-read breaks(drums) squeal sometimes
-engine hesitates sometimes (supposedly, it just needs new spark plug cables)
-rear power window works
-slight targa top leak
-right top latch is damaged
-mileage: 164,000 miles
-asking price (after haggling) is $3,500
-15 inch rims and tires
-timing belt and pump replaced 2 years ago
-engine tics "because it needs an oil change"
I think the price is too much given what needs done and what I am actually looking for, but its quite difficult to find something local.
Tonight I'm going to look over and test drive it. What should I look for? Is this already a lost cause car?
