So i have decided to get a new tank i am getting a juwel 350.

just going through what fish substrate plants etc...

so far i am thinking i am going to go with:
Electric Yellows
Elecrtic Blues
Pseudotropheus Aceii Msuli Point
Melanochromis Maingano
Nimbochromis Venustus
Pseudotropheus Lombardoi

probably about 4 of each i think going to try and get 3 females one male of each (hopefully)

then i thought i would go with Seachem Flourite Black Sand as the substrate

I am going to try and get a lot of Texas holey rock for them all to hide in.

I am going to get the jewel rock background for the back of the tank

The fish i am getting are quite small so i was thinking of trying to put in some plants and hopefully by time the fish grow up the plants will be rooted in far enough..... maybe if not i will just pull them out.

for plants i am thinking.
Amazon sword
java fern
red tiger lotus

I also have a c02 system if anyone thinks i need to set it up for these plants.

If anyone has any advice on anything i am getting it would be much appreciated as i want to get everything right from the get go.

I wont be getting the tank for a couple months so i have plenty of time to get everything i need before hand.

adding to the list
Melanochromis Johanni and as a cleaner
Plecostomus there about 20cm long (already have them)

and am going to get a big eheim filter so i can overstock

any ideas or suggestions

The filter that comes in the tank is 1500LPH (400GPH)

Tank is 350 liters (100G)

wondering how many fish i can get in there they say one inch per gallon but this is a pretty big filter for this tank do you think i can stock more than that?

My mate is selling a
Eheim Professional 3 External Filter 2080
i can pick this up for $500 extra and this puts out 1850LPH (490G) it also has a LOT more filter media in it so it should be able to handle a bigger load..

stocking is something i don't know a lot about i have always worked on the 1 inch per gallon rule but i would really like to overstock this tank a little as i think tanks with more fish in them look a lot better..

thanks in advance for advice

with the fish your looking at overstocking is almost required to spread out the aggression. if you can afford it get both filters running on the tank. as for the plants LOL save your money.. the mbuna are just gonna shred em.

ok so a quick update on where im at with the new tank i have just got

5 x Pseudotropheus Aceii Msuli Point
6 x Sc Fryeri Electric Blue
6 x Cobalt Blue Zebra
6 x Melanochromis Maingano
6 x Bristlenose Catfish
6 x Sc Fryeri Electric Yellow

I have also brought the
Eheim Professional 3 External Filter 2080, 4 bags of CaribSea Tahitian Moon Sand and have some white fake rocks on order after Christmas i will be buying the tank i am also looking at setting up a automatic water change setup will let you know how i am going to work that when i figure it out already have water and drain through the wall into the room.

I will be painting the back of the tank black as well as the filter inlets.

if there is anything else you think i should be putting in the setup please let me know :)

will update after Christmas

Sc Fryeri Electric Yellow

Do you mean electric yellow cichlid? Or yellow labs?

Looks like a pretty good stocklist. If it was me I would only keep one male S Fryeri in the tank. The females are pretty drab and the male won't tolerate any other males.

But sure to post lots of pictures when you get it all set up!

unfortunately i have no say in the male/female ratio i get so i have just got 6 of each at about 4cm i will have to wait for them to grow up a little before i can sex them at which point i will be selling a couple back to the local pet shop so i can have a nice ratio.

and sorry i mean Electric yellow :) got a little ahead of myself last night
