A couple months ago I got an anenomie for my 20L (against all your advise I know). It did fine for a few days, then it curled up it's tenticles and hid itself in the darkest part of the tank! Several times I had thought it was dead, but each time it moved into a small patch of light and recovered a little. Finally it attached to a hermit crab shell and got moved into the bright part of the tank again, and it's doing a lot better again... That was a little more than a week ago, and it already looks a LOT better. What I want to know is how do you get these things to attach to rocks. I want to get it anchored to something before I move all my livestock into my new 55 (as soon as it cycles, probaly a month from now.) I appreciate any advise, thanks.

I believe they will attach themselves once they find a suitable spot.

Mine never attach where I would like them to. You sort of have to adjust to what they do. I did a major re-arranging in my tank a few weeks ago which left my bubble tip right in front where it's easy to see. I'm suprised it's staying there!!

Since I started suplimenting my diced clams with Selcon, all three of my amemones are really looking good. I highly recommend the product.

Remember Anemones will move to where they want to be, and its dangerous to the Anemone to try to move it. So if it moves to a spot, thats probably the best spot spot for it even if you may not like it there :)

I have a 90 gallon with LOTS of MH light.

About 2 months ago, I put an Anemone in a desired spot.
It moved to another location (under a rock), but comes out EVERY day in FULL BLOOM. It retracts itself at night.

My guess, is that you may not have enough light.

Can you give us some lighting specs?

The current tank is a 20 long with a 65 watt Power Compact 50/50. Now that the anenomie has been in the light for the better part of a week it is beginning to look very nice again so I know that it was starving itself before. I was just wondering how I could get it to anchor to a rock so I wouldn't have to worry about this again, I guess that's a moot point so thanks anyways.

I had good luck finding an old oyster shell or clam shell the was pretty deep set.. I placed the anemone's foot inside it and it hasn't moved since..
I am able to move it around the tank using the clam shell.. it has never detached in over a year and has been in several diffren't locations... I think that the shell covering its foot provides it a feeling of security
often times an anemone will find rock work or a cave to plant itself... not for the lighting but for the security..
