I came to the decision last night that my 55 gallon guppy tank is in serious need of some natural population control. In December I set up the tank with perhaps 12 adult guppies and now in May I have at least 30 adults and between 100 and 200 young ones. They are a glorious swarm when it's feeding time, but the mass of babies grows noticeably bigger each day.

I have a very good friend with a huge adult Angelfish in a smaller tank than mine who is going to trade the Angel tonight in exchange for a 10 gallon tank full of guppies.

Wish me luck.

Ooooh, please post pics once he/she gets settled in

I don't know if you'll have population control or an exterminator.

Yes, we'll know shortly I guess. As long as he is actually eating them it won't bother me much. If the angel is just killing for fun I'll make new arrangements for him.

My most attractive male--the only guppy I would really miss--is off in a breeding tank with some young females right now. I suppose I won't ever put him in with the Angel.

There are a LOT of plants and small hiding places where the angel can't go.

Wow. nice set up. I think you'll have a good populatoon control over there. However, don't undesrtimate the ability of flat bodied fish to get into very unlikely places.

the angel will have plenty of places to hide to pick off unsuspecting small fishes.
