So I went ahead and tried those two to help reduce the ick in my tank, and treat one of my fish that was suffering from pop-eye... After choosing to STOP using them, I turned my skimmer back on, and its been going NUTS! I did a 50% water change, followed by a 30 and a 20 all 2 days apart, and still not much luck!

How can I get this stuff out of my water so that my skimmer goes back to working normally?? Right now, it just produces LOTS of micro bubbles that exit from the pumps intake, and fill up the tank... And on top it just goes crazy and overflows the cup with water.. Doesnt collect any dirt at all, even when I close the airflow adjusting screw...

so how do I get this stuff out of my tank?!?!?!

Also, the problem is not the skimmer because I took it to my LFS today to get it cleaned/tested, and it worked perfectly fine in one of their tanks...

Running a sufficiently large (go big, lol) amount of carbon will help out a lot.. Try to dial down the skimmer as much as possible in the process or just let it go nuts (the latter is assuming it is an in-sump skimmer, of course).

dial down meaning let it go easy? thats what its doing now.. barely letting any air go through.. if i let it go nuts, it will overflow and the water from the collection cup will fall back into the tank... Its an in-tank skimmer.. Should i open up the screw to the max and just let it overflow back into the tank? I also added some Purigen (Seachem) into my filter...

No, don't let it continue to go nuts, but keep it on the current setting. That low setting should still attempt to remove some.

Purigen is even better than carbon in this instance. Just be generous (or use both carbon and the purigen).

FWIW, Pimafix and Melafix have never worked on marine tanks for me. They have worked miracles in freshwater, but they just make a mess in seawater.

yeh tell me about it :( my tank has been going downhill ever since i put them in! HORRRRIBLE experience.. i flushed them both down the toilet! i have a HATRED towards them! although the people at my LFS tell me constantly that none of their other customers ever complained! which really gets me thinking... Ace25 said he used it with great success... My tank is suffering from ICH, lost a fish yesterday, and i believe im loosing one more tonight.. It sucks... But im running a tiny bag of purigen now, ill buy a bunch more tomorow and run it in another filter... im just FEDUP...

regenerable?? meaning i wont need to change the sacks? just leave it in there n itll keep sucking out all the trash in my water?

Regenerable as in you can use a solution of household bleach to oxidize the adsorbed organics and therefore reactivate the resin. Follow the instructions provided by Seachem's website.

did you put them in there to kill the ich? Melefix is an antibacterial, and pimafix is an anti-fungal. Neither were designed to work against ich, which is neither.
