Getting New Fish

i plan to buy some new fish soon
i find it very hard to decide what to buy
i was hoping if u guys can give me some suggestions
i want something tat is kinda big a fish tat would grow to be around 6-9 inches long, a community fish, and looks good.(fresh water)
i dont want oscars or clownknives
 
Angelfish are a good choice, they grow to be about 9 inches long (including fins) and 9 inches high (w/fins) and are good community fish. They look stunning too. If you are placing some in your existing tank, they should do well with your gourami, providing you buy adult angels. You could keep a solitary one, or buy a group of 5+ and have them school. Dont do less than 4 though, as there will be hierarchy, and a possible loss of fish.

Also good are earth-eater cichlids, and firemouth cichlids. They get to be large and aren't too aggressive, especially the earth eater, which is a very peaceful fish. Eats worms from the dirt, attractive too.

what are you going to do with your fish once she/he gets full grown? A 24"to 28" long fish is a big fish!

And if the other new fish you were looking for is to go in this tank, and you are actually interested in finding tank mates, you should look into any of the bottom feeders the others motioned. The would give you more movement and things to watch in the tank, while still staying out of the way of your gourami.

I love loaches personally. Clowns get up 12" but are slow growing, there are Redtail Botia, aka Orange Finned Loach, or Blue Loach, growing a max of 10”, 12" in wild (Botia modesta.)

You could really have fun and look at shovelnose species, giraffe catfish, or other fun ones.
