getting rid of planaria

If the planaria is emitting poison, the fish would have died as well as logic would state it. I don't think that is true. It sounded like a ploy to me.

Exactly. Many of us have planaria eaten by fish and I have yet to hear a report of a fish killed just by consuming even a few planaria.

What could have caused the fast die off then?could it be the temp fluctuations from the heat were having?it only gets to about 80*
Where are your tanks located in your house? If in places where sunlight penetrates, then it's possible. What thermometer are you using?

the way to get rid of planaria is to stop overfeeding the tank. I would not use a medication that's meant for dogs to kill them off. I wouldn't use anything meant for dogs anywhere near my tank...

I have heard of planaria being deadly to shrimp, but have not experienced it. There is some debate about the subject. I think that planaria in EXCESS could be dangerous. How badly do you see planaria in your tanks? In a tank without predation, like a shrimp only tank, its easy for their numbers to grow readily.
