Pretty mixed reviews on them, I've one thats worked ok in the year or so I've had it.Pretty cheaply made but I think just about any fixture in that price range is.

So to seed the dry rock, if I take a few lbs of live rock and scrub it in the water with a brush an just use power heads will that help or am I better just placing the rock into the tank?

Also I have an ac50 will that be enough of a supplement?

And I was going to ask for a 50-75gpd ro/di for Christmas

Scrubbing a coralline algae encrusted rock with a stainless steel brush into your tank is a great way to speed the spread of coralline algae, but won't do anything to speed the seeding of dry rock.
