Haven't found the little guy yet. The bigger shrimp is swimming around and eating stuff. My tetras will run into his antenna and the poor shrimp will jump. The fish don't harass the shrimp at all. The little shrimp looked different than the bigger one. I didn't even think that he may be molting. I haven't seen any shrimp bits around the tank. I'm wondering if he's stuck somewhere, dying. Who knows, maybe he tried to get underneath the gravel and now he's stuck. I'll keep an eye out for him. If I don't see him in a week, I'll consider him gone. There's lots of little hidey-holes in my tank, so he may just be hiding/molting. I might get up one night and give the tank another thourough look.

I put six ghost shrimp into my 29. All I can ever find are 5 at any given time. My wife swears she counted six not long ago. I just assume I have five now. Not that anything in the tank would have gotten it. On the contrary. My ghost shrimp are most likely to vanish when I take the hood and light off and start the Python up. I try and watch for them in the tube, but those suckers are sure hard to see without a good light source!
FWIW, your original stocking plan looked too loaded to me too. Personally, I'd go with one dwarf gourami and the six neons and 3 shrimp. Also, if you have the inclination, look into live plants. Your fish will love you for it and it's fun.

i had four or five ghost shrimp in my tank a while ago (all dead now, I realized my water was way to alkaline...not very hardy guys 
) but they can be VERY hard to spot. i thought one of them died and was eaten by the others until i finally spotted it's outline in a small cave. i checked that cave about five times a day before and didnt see it...little buggas are hard to spot.
oh, forgot to mention. If one of your shrimps did die because the fish took care of most of him, the other shrimp might have cleaned up the remains. happened to one of mine once -came home to find one of them perched happily on a leaf, munching on the corpse of another one. but i still doubt your guy is dead. keep looking

My friend just bought some ghost shrimp and realized that she had too many. She gave me the ones she didn't want. If I still have that little one, I'll have 7 shrimp now. That's just too many. They'll be ok for now until I find them a new home. Could I put 1 in my betta tank, or will the betta eat it?

1 gourami 8 neons ghost shrimp - or 2 gourami four neons and ghost shrimp - your initial plan is too heavy for a 10g especially one so new without a strong bio system in place yet
Sorry to barge in on this, but since you are all talking about ghost shrimp, did you read my post about mine talking chalky white? From what I understand, after they molt, if the water is too soft, they turn white and die. I was told to put iodide and calcium in my tank, but am afraid that will affect my other fish. One lfs said it was ok, another said, don't do it. I love my ghost shrimp, and can't stand to see them decaying like this. One died last week, and two more are turning chalk white. They did already shed their skins. Any of you put iodide or calcium in your tanks? :OT:

My water is at like 8.4 alkilinity and i had the same problems. they moulted, turned chalk-white and died. I think the first one died on like the second day, and the last one lasted 2-3 weeks. I also have no idea what to do about that. i used some ph down and my water spiked off the charts. the guys did good for a while in the incredibly acidic water, but then died.
bettas are pretty intelligent and individual. they may kill your ghost shrimp, might ignore them, and I've heard stories from people on this website whos ghostshrimp flare their legs at bettas and chase them away! put your shrimp in a seethrough bag (with water) and float it in the betta tank. see how they react. Clearly, if your betta starts flaring and charching the shrimp in the bag, it's not wise to put them in the same tank.
