I have a 55 gal community tank with all very friendly fishes (platys, neon tetras, glo-lite tetras, danios and corys). Everyone gets along just fine. I also keep Ghost shrimp and amano shrimp because I like to watch them.

When fry are born I don't remove them from the tank but I supply lots of hiding places for them to escape to if they can. Nature takes it's course here. Anyway..... I noticed a very young fry the other day. I am guessing platy, I called my wife over and we were watching him and one of my ghost shrimp did a very fast movement and the next thing we know is the fry's tail is hanging from his mouth:eek: . I never suspected that this can happen and wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it. It was sad and amazing at the same time.

No question, just sharing.

Yes I was told here that shrimp wouldnt eat fry, but I was reading about them yesterday, cause I migth order some for my friends small tank, and for me if I can set up a fry tank, but every website said they eat fry

I am sorry to hear that but am glad you posted this. Because if you hadn't I would've went and bought some for my fry tank. I was actually going to buy some tommorow and put them in with my swordtail fry, and definetly do not want them dead.
Thank you!!

yeah, i keep a stock of 20 ghost shrimp in my plant grow-out tank to control the guppy population, since i don't want to be pestered trying to cull the fry manually. works quite well.

These little guys eat about ANYTHING they can get ahold of! LOL! I have some in my albino frog tank(although they don't stay around real long!)and it's adorable to watch them grab worms from the frogs and take off! The shrimp will start at one end of the worm and take FOREVER to eat!
