I was walking by my brigs nursery tank, and stopped to check on how everything was doing. One of the ghost shrimp was up next to the glass with a baby mystery snail in its clutches. i looked closer to see if the little snail's door was open. It wasn't, and it looked pretty secure. Well i watched it for a bit to see if the shrimp would give up, and i could see it sticking its little leg in between the operculum (sp?) and the shell! it wedged its leg in there and then popped the door open! after it was open it shoved the poor thing right into its face and started eating it!! i reached in and saved the little guy, but idk how many others they have eaten. the shrimp are fed very well too, so i don't know why they would resort to this.
idk if anybody knew this or if its yesterday's news, but i was shocked. i feel so bad for the baby snails. i will be taking the ghost shrimp out and putting them into a different tank. :(
has anybody else had this happen??

When I had dwarf Puffers the and Ghost Shrimp the shrimp would battle the puffers for snails pieces.

I have a female betta I caught eating the baby mystery snails the other day! I don't have a place to put her so I just hope that some make it to get too big for her to eat.

Are they actually ghost shrimp and not a version of the macro sp??? I have read horror stories and 75% of the time I re-read, come to find out it was a macro species they resemble ghost shrimp when they are small but get way bigger. I have never seen aggression in any of my ghost shrimp! Macros on the other hand...well it didn't end well for the other shrimp in the tank.

ah. well dang. poor things
i guess im just surprised that it could actually get past the operculum
