Ghost Shrimp?

Jeeez. Most shrimp are about 3 for £10 ($17) here in Scotland. Even at that its a rare thing when the shops actually have them in. Im going to wait till i know my tank wont kill them before i get any.

My bichir LOVES ghost shrimp... if he can catch them!

^Depends on their inhabitants. Any tank larger and you will probably lose them. They are harder to spot than other varieties of fw shrimp unless you have a multitude. They don't get big though if you are concerned about tank size.

I have used ghost shrimp quite often and they do an AMAZING job. I mean, the water is so clear it looks clearer than water from the tap poured into a glass.

I just got a shipment today from aquariumfish.com. They were all alive and really good size so my fish won't eat them readily. I made the mistake of putting two in with my betta tank and now I can't find them. Sounds like Betta fish is full and happy.

But, I figure they are so inexpensive and have such a short lifespan that if my fish get a good meal, what better food? I was kind of attached to one of my old ones. I had it for a few months and it really had a personality and seemed to come up to the glass every time I came up to the tank. One day he was gone and my Chineses algae eater looked rather happy. (could have been a tetra, but the shrimp at the time was bigger than they were!)

So, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GHOST SHRIMP. I can't find them in north Dallas, so I buy them online. But, its really worth it!

good luck!

the ghost shrimp here are around $.26. I have some shells in my tank right now. I am afraid that they will crawl inside of them and when I go to clean the tank that they will be in the shells and die. Should I remove the shells if I do get these ghost shrimp?
I have a shell in my tank with 3 ghost shrimp. Just watch for them and maybe try to find them all before you clean anything. Mine like to sit on top of the plants and hide under the shell and the edges of my fake coral.
