Because of my plants/lights I do not have a cover. Was just wondering if I add giant danios will they jump out??

any fish can jump.... i dont think you will have any problems with danios jumping right out of the tank though... you could leave an inch of room between the lip and water line just to be safe... maybe buy a few and see,a danio is 50 cents around here lol

...any chance of adding any floating plants?

Can alway do that, but I have lots of light loving plants and really not too interested in floating plants.

PS--"Crazycanadian"--I want Giant Danios, think they cost a little more then 50cents each.

Danios are active fish: I've had a couple of zebra danios take a flying leap over the years. The egg crate suggestion is a good one, since it should leave your plants room to grow out the top, too.

oh sorry... is there any chance you could build a diy hood, incorporating your lighting system into it??? not very hard to do either

As already stated any fish can jump depending on water conditions and weather or not they get spooked. I would consider going with the egg crate idea or floating plants just to be on the safe side.

giant danios are insanely active, in a proper tank they never stop moving, i used to watch the trio i had in my 180g doing 4' oval laps contanstly and making a single circuit every ~2 seconds. yes, they will jump.
