Just put some Parasite Clear by Jungle in my GSP tank to alleviate gill flukes in my gsp tweedle dum and tweedle dee. I only saw the flukes in dee, but am treating my whole 33.

Dee looks really stressed today, but the fluke in his right gill is gone and the one in his left is hanging out a lot further today. Tomorrow I do my 25% water change and re-dose. Is it better to wait a day to re-does or should I do it immeadiately after the water change? The package doesn't give much by way of directions and I thought maybe someone has had some experience with this.

No advise from me MsPuff. That sucks though and I know you are bummed. New puffers right? Sorry to hear of the condition. What are you feeding just out of curiosity.

I haven't had any experience with flukes but I know people on the puffer forum have, if you haven't posted over there you should. I remember a thread specifically about a gsp with flukes from awhile back.

yeah, they're new puffers and their condition is the major reason that has caused me to boycott the chain pet store in my area. I'd rather pay more at a locally owned one than support animal neglect and cruelty.

I'm feeding...

mussels- bought fresh, then frozen & thawed for feeding
Shrimp- bought frozen, fed thawed
blood worms- freeze dried, reconstituted in tank water
krill- freeze dried, reconstituted in tank water
and an earthworm on the day I got them, but i'm holding off on those incase of pesticides. I'm going to culture my own.

So they have a fairly varied diet, oh and I have pond snails...i'm trying to get them to eat those, but it's a process.

I rescued my GSP from "Wal Mart. He was pretty sickly. I fed him all the things you are feeding but I soaked his food in garlic and Vitamins.

I've done the garlic, but not vitamins, I kinda ran out of money for the moment.

I'm not seeing any gill flukes right now, but tweedle dee isn't doing very well, he's not eating and just lying around the tank. He'll swim for a bit, then goes back down and rests. Hopefully just recuperating.

I did a big wc today and changed my tank around a bit before I dosed again.

in 48 hours i'll be doing another big wc to rid my tank of the meds and hopefully he'll come around.

yet another turn for the worse, I can see gill flukes again and Dee is just lying in the plants barely breathing. I don't think he's going to make it.

YEa that sucks. I know it can bring a tear to the eye to have to watch that... My wife cried watching me take our Desjardinii Sailfin out of the tank..... Spock is right though.. You seem to have all you could. Blame the big chain stores.. not your self..
