Glass cover: ON or OFF

Just wondering if I should have my glass cover on the tank if I plan on doing a reef set-up? My LFS said I shouldn't have a cover because the light won't get thru, but I thought the cover let in light, plus kept fish in and reduced evaportation.

A glass cover will keep fish in there and reduce evaporation...However, glass covers do stop the full light getting into the tank..Depends a little on how powerfull the lighting is that your using...Evap also helps a lot with the cooling...Bit of a debatable issue is whether to use a glass cover...

i agree with atnixon but i have always used lid i just clean them ever other day so the most light goes through. its really up to u and how strong your lighting is.
